What Does a Promoter Actually Do?

Most people know the artist, some know the venue but who actually puts the night together? The promoter.

Depending on the event, a promoter can be involved in finding artists, negotiating deals, booking venues, arranging promotion, coordinating ticket sales and making sure people actually know the event exists. They're also taking a risk.

Before anyone buys a ticket, money may already have been spent. If people don't show up, the promoter doesn't get to rewind the night, that's why a successful event isn't only about finding a good artist. Someone has to make the entire night happen.

And most of that work happens long before the first person walks through the door.
