Why Do Concerts Start So Late?

You bought a ticket for 20:00. So why is the artist sometimes not on stage until 21:30? Because the time on the ticket often isn't the time the main artist starts.

Doors may open first, followed by a support act, soundcheck, equipment changes and everything else happening backstage.

There is also the audience to think about. Hundreds of people don't arrive, enter, find their friends and get settled at exactly the same moment.

A concert is more like a moving schedule than a single performance.
